Alfred Emanuel Smith, Jr., born December 30, 1873 in New York and died October 4, 1944, was an American Democratic politician, four times Governor of the State of New York and presidential candidate in 1928 (election won by Herbert Hoover). We still speak of him at least once a year at the charity dinner organized by the foundation that bears his name to Catholic charities.

Sometimes candidates are not invited, which was the case for Bill Clinton (apparently Following one of its positions which did not please the church about a law on abortion), but this year the day after their last debate and two weeks before the day J. .. Finally, there is said to D, John McCain and Barack Obama were there.
And the writers were not on strike, fortunately for them. Their authors were able concter their heartfelt speeches, full of pikes tapping their own campaign and their opponent. A pretty impressive performance, it must be said. Judge for yourself ...

Amazing, no? Note that John McCain is still pretty much at ease this year that Barack Obama, even if the Democratic candidate's speech contained a good deal of very good replicas. I love the " Al Smith was very nice, from what I have said Senator McCain, who has known " and the wink to Sarah Palin with no sight of the door the Russian Tea Room ...
