The surprising vagaries of a separatist Walloon ...
In his Letter to the Editor, The Free this weekend published a lengthy letter from Mr. Stephen Duvieusart, lawyer and former senator from Charleroi Rassemblement Wallon.
After the implosion of the party, Mr. Duvieusart had created in 1979, a Front for the Independence of Wallonia and published a book in which he outlined, based in part on some research conducted by the Economist Michel Quévit that the solution for the future of Wallonia was to become an independent state. He considered that Wallonia had the resources and financial resources necessary for this state is economically viable Wallonia (1).
Now here than in his letter to The Free , he writes that the acceptance in principle by Mr. Di Rupo "the Copernican revolution advocated by Mr De Wever sounds like a capitulation before the fight."
We know that this "revolution" consists essentially in that turning the center of gravity of Belgium's federal government to the regions and / or Communities, by transferring to it a large number of new skills, ranging from Interior to Justice, through the management of health care, employment policy and part of the tax. For the Flemish parties involved in current negotiations, the transfer of powers must be accompanied by empowerment of regions, notably involving the revision of the financing law.
As a supporter of the independence of Wallonia, one would expect logically that Mr. Duvieusart nNo has objected to this "Copernican revolution" which would provide the Wallonia virtual independence with the financial responsibility follows.
Well no! He goes to war against what he calls "the alliance N-VA - PS " in which he sees "a sad remake [sic] evoking " complicity, indeed against nature, which united in the period 1936-1940, the Flemish nationalism and defeatism of the Socialist Party led by Emile Vandervelde, defeatism advocated at the time under the name of pacifism " . He adds, as if he regretted today, the institutional objective of Mr De Wever is the disappearance of Belgium ", and that" this is exactly what the defending Augustus and Borms Staf De Clercq the "... And look at Mr. Di Rupo MM. Daladier and Chamberlain, returning from Munich in 1938, had declared that " dropouts were made price to pay for peace of a generation ".
Mr. Duvieusart evokes, as in 1979, the dignity and realism of the Walloons, but that is not to take their destiny in hand and fully assume their responsibilities in an independent state [actually unsustainable, note], but that he does not take " the responsibility to end sooner or later to Belgium, leaving (Flemings ) for a poor survival temportaire, weapons and assets they want to take before leaving the ship.
What fly has stung counsel Charleroi? In fact, it is not an insect bite, but a well-known virus has not spared the former independence. This virus is called "Brussels ! Mr. Duvieusart literally carried away about it. Do not blame does not Mr. Di Rupo for having joined "the annexation [sic] of BHV by Flanders"? And blame " to all who are complacently neglect of human rights violations [sic] in the Brussels periphery " by referring back to 1940 and Munich Agreement.
Another activist obsessed Walloon Brussels Francophones and the periphery, who did not understand the normal demands of Flanders on its own territory and that confuses even the Walloon fight and defend these francophones, two things all at completely different when they s not prevent!
Mr. Duvieusart yet had defended during the 2nd Congress of Walloon independence in April 1982, the principle - which has always been ours - " Brussels and Wallonia to Brussels to Wallonia " (2) .. Yet it was clear that the Walloons are involved in defending the Wallonia and Brussels in Brussels!
